Teaching Math-via-Dance is a unique practice-based-research pedagogy that was conceived by Calai Chandra during the LDIT Program Core Experience with the able guidance from Professor. Karen Brennon and Teaching Fellow Katie Rotman. Calai’s vision is to implement this STEeAM based Learning Design at her dance school in New Jersey, USA. STEEAM here stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Environment, Arts and Mathematics. Classical dance from South India reveres nature very much and pays obeisance every time it is performed. Therefore, Calai finds it befitting to include environment at the core of this Learning Design. She also finds it interesting to note that the English word Earth has ART in it! One who admires natural beauty would easily develop a heightened sense of aesthetic for all arts and the sciences.
