Fostering artistic brilliance in Chinese high school students through summer programs The Empowering Artistic Potential Program is dedicated to cultivating the creative prowess of high school students in China, guiding them towards becoming future leaders in the realm of art. Personally curating the workshop syllabus and in-class activities, my focus is on elevating the students’ learning experience. A key facet of our approach involves the integration of practical exercises within real-life simulated scenarios. This strategic incorporation is aimed at providing a hands-on, immersive learning environment, enabling students to not only grasp theoretical concepts but also apply them in practical situations. By doing so, we ensure that the program goes beyond traditional classroom learning, equipping students with the skills and confidence necessary for their journey into the professional art world. In the context of the Empowering Artistic Potential Program, a crucial aspect of learning design that plays a pivotal role is “scaffolding.” Scaffolding, in educational terms, refers to the supportive framework provided to learners as they engage with new and challenging concepts. In the realm of our art-focused initiative, scaffolding is implemented to guide students through progressively complex artistic skills and concepts. For instance, the meticulously designed curriculum of the seminar and our virtual project are personally guided by our experts from professional workspace. They lead students step by step in mastering the essentials of reception tasks. Through the “scaffolding” approach, students may acquire workplace skills that they might not learn in school. This helps them lay a solid foundation, preparing them for their future career paths.
