Hop-On 📍is a mobile app that creates a new kind of location-based, interactive learning experience. It is able to tell and teach about the learners environment and personal interests, based on an algorithm (AI) which generates individual stories and narratives:
User is interested in architecture; walks at Beacon Hill in Boston:
→ AI tells (constructs) a story about the Massachusetts State House
⇒ Another user with different interests receives different information on the same walk
The idea is that anyone, anywhere can (and is allowed to) have individual learning experiences about their surroundings. I was inspired by the stories of my grandfather, who could tell me something about every street corner in his small village town. Sometimes the buildings or facades of the stories didn’t even exist anymore. But like a great travel guide, he told me the most exciting stories during a normal walk – always tailored to my interests and preferences (knights, politics and old legends in those days).
I would like to make this experience available for other people and other places: By allowing each person to contribute their own stories, a colorful cluster of data will be created –> from which an AI generates exciting, personally relevant location-based stories. The user of the app can then simply walk through the streets or towards specific destinations and learn interesting things about their environment along the way.
Thereby both, the tourist and the “local” can learn from and about their surroundings and experience truly personally relevant content.
I find the approach of a social platform particularly interesting, where through a crowdsourced approach everyone can contribute information (like a wiki) and give feedback on stories (that was interesting / that is irrelevant). Over time, the whole world will be woven into a digital layer and becomes with Hop-On 📍a playground for personalized, individual and interactive learning.Â

A new way to explore, learn and grow on the go.
