Premise: 25% of students in the U.S. come from an immigrant background or are immigrant themselves. Yet, we do not train teachers on how to best support these students, that have gone through so much, in the classroom.
Solution: I will create a professional development workshop for educators to engage in conversation and best practices on how to support immigrant students. The workshop will combine SEL, Playful Learning, and Trauma-informed Classroom pedagogies to help school staff and teachers part-take in these conversations.
Immigrant POVR: Is a tool created to spark conversation and build empathy on teachers and administrators of immigrant student populations. It is meant to spark conversation by putting the user on the point of view of an immigrant student that does not understand the language.
