In The Blink Of An Eye

Project Overview

My project, which includes a comprehensive teacher guide and a sample online module, offers a roadmap for teachers to craft interdisciplinary learning experiences for K-12 students. The teacher guide uses color perception module as an example to showcase how a scientific topic can intertwine with various disciplines. It illustrates the potential for creating holistic and engaging learning experiences that go beyond traditional subject boundaries.

This project is designed for:

  • K-12 teachers (of any subject)
    • who would like to create a more engaging learning experience
    • who would like to integrate knowledge from different subject areas
    • who would like to design an interesting project for his/her current lesson
    • who would like to make learning fun and relatable
  • Summer Program Designers
    • who would like to create a cross-disciplinary summer school experience

Context

The product of this project can be used for:

  • J-term class
  • After school STEAM programs
  • STEAM Innovation Curriculum
  • Summer Camp/School
  • Special Events: Science Fair/Art Project/Design Challenge
  • A case study/example/project for a current class

Design Process

At first, I intended to create a complete course on visual perception, exploring how each topic within visual perception could be linked to another subject. However, after discussions with former teachers, I realized that designing a more comprehensive guide on creating interdisciplinary experiences using a sample lesson might be more meaningful. As of the time of this archive, I haven’t finish designing the teacher guide yet. I will continue to refine the guide and the sample lesson as I move forward.

Final Product

Teacher Guide: A PDF showcasing processes on designing a interdisciplinary lesson, using the sample module on color perception as an example.

Sample Module: Science behind color perception.
