Key Insights from PCE
- Feedback – Throughout this process, I have learned so much more about design, and designing in community. For a bit, I feel I was socialized to design and produce in silos only seeking out feedback near the end of product/learning experience completion. This class, through weekly share outs, mini-presentations, and think-pair-shares has truly grown my comfort with feedback on projects. I now feel increasingly more comfortable sharing project ideas early and often and getting feedback to incorporate ASAP.
- Learner/User Centric Design – Through this work, I have moved from thinking about human centered design (HCD) to practicing HCD. Largely through the user research experience, I had my initial ideas debunked and reframed based on what the users actually need. These insights remind me that there is a world of possibilities of what and why something may be happening.
- One example includes debunking assumptions I made about the users and finding new insights via user research
- PCE as a Playground – I used PCE as a time to test, iterate, and dive deeper into ideas I had a hunch about, but no time to execute in my corporate work. It was fun to see this class as a playground to test something completely new out and tinker with it for 12 weeks. I am looking forward to thinking about how I can bring both bits of this into my future work!
