Let the People Crochet

The text "Let the People Crochet" is displayed in all caps, on a whimsical background. Underneath the title, the subtitle "Part 1: Getting Started" is written inside a bubble.

If you’ve ever tried to learn to craft from videos online, you know how difficult it can be. Sometimes one video will have what you need, but the next time you need to learn something related, that person doesn’t have an appropriate video or they spend too long talking before getting to the point, or there are just generally too many distractions or the video is too long. It can be really frustrating

This project is an easy to use accessible and empathetic series of short videos that teach the viewer how to crochet. There is a distinct lack of short, direct, easy to understand videos about how to crochet. The ones that do exist are a few and far between, or are paywall. I firmly believe that there should not be a barrier to learning when it comes to creative and artistic ventures, and as someone who deeply loves crochet and its opportunities for expression and creation and subversion, I knew I needed to create this project.

With this project, which I intend to publish on major social media channels that allow for short form video, I intend to create place where learners can easily interact with and understand the foundations of this craft. With this knowledge, I intend to set my learners up to be independent, flexible, creative experimenters, who know where to go next in their crocheting journey.
