My project is ‘Stories Beyond Limits,’ a platform that uses storytelling to enhance language learning. Just like in film, where storytelling creates powerful connections, this platform helps learners collaborate on stories to improve fluency, express creativity, and build intercultural understanding. Inspired by my passion for cinema, I wanted to design a tool that makes language learning more engaging and immersive.
Stories Beyond Limits is a storytelling based language learning tool using which users learn the language skills by creating and sharing stories. Promotes creativity, collaboration and intercultural understanding through prompts suited to various proficiency levels including Personal Experiences, Cultural Traditions and Imaginative Fiction. Users select prompts such as “A Special Day” for beginners, or “A Turning Point” for advanced learners, then draft stories on their own or together on features like “pass the story.” They can access integrated language support tools along the way, and receive feedback from peers through structured prompts. The platform also features educational resources, collaborative modes, and reflection tools that support users to critically reflect on their language use and storytelling techniques. The space I’ve created balances creative freedom with structured guidance to allow learners to experiment with language in a dynamic way while tracking their progress through feedback and achievements. This project taught me the value of marrying structure and creativity in learning design so users are simultaneously supported and empowered. Next, I plan to improve the platform’s interactivity, test the prototype, and consider ways to incorporate social emotional learning to deepen the connections between users.
