From Twinborn: Twilight (TwT) by Kiara TangFeel your heartbeat,
Hear the connection,
Here we stand,
From dark to light.
HEARTBEAT
This is your dream, a nightmare like a labyrinth. You need to find a way out.
So, what’s your deepest nightmare?
What do you see yourself doing in the future?
Where do you want to explore?
Unforgettable experiences you have? that can grant you strength?
You have any deep fears in the past years?
Feeling about fighting against something? The moment when you decided to go on a fight?
What if you would eventually fail? What if this is a dead end?
What if… the end of labyrinth, everything that hinders your progress, and stops you from reaching the future,
is just the past version of yourself?

CONNECTION
“No worries. I’m always by your side. We will face this together. “
“But what if it is a dead end, when sacrifices must be made? “
“I’m glad he’s not here. And no, I don’t miss him. It brings me peace knowing I can protect him until the very end.”
“How selfish you are, imposing your sole desire on someone bound to you! Such self-centered sacrifice is nothing but pure arrogance!”
“Please, don’t leave me, brother.”

“What’s past, is past. I owe you more than just an apology.”
“No. I ask for an amendment of a future where we stand together.”
INTRO
Twinborn: Twilight (TwT) offers a 1-hr self-reflection pixel RPG journey in a GPT-morphed world. Players engage in a unique narrative RPG experience, generated by ChatGPT, that involves answering introspective questions. Accompanied by two brothers, each with distinct yet relatable life experiences, players embark on a journey towards enlightenment.
The developer, Kiara (Ziqi) Tang, is a versatile content creator with a strong foundation in CN/EN writing, drawing, gaming, GPT interaction, and AI prompt engineering. She aims to share the story she has crafted and the unique, transformative journey with a wide audience.
The game is currently in development. While the design phase is complete, the screenwriting and coding are still underway.

On Learning Design: Reflections
Code Development:
I truly enjoy learning and developing code. With the current assistance from GPT, I can quickly learn to develop simple functionalities. In the future, I aim to create more small-scale independent games to gamify the learning process for everyone, creating richer learning experiences.
*My creative philosophy is to create content that brings positive value and strength to people, regardless of the type of content.
Of course, I plan to learn Unity as well.
Handling Stress:
Around week 7 of the term, I encountered significant life stress, causing my project to pause for several weeks.
During such times, I 1. adjust my priorities, and 2. actively seek help and talk to people.
Designing a project, at least for me, isn’t about continuous explosive effort but maintaining a balance within limits.
A Cat is a Cat:
This semester, I took at least two creative courses. My takeaway is to earnestly engage in a course project, focusing solely on that course.
This game design also made me realize – creating games is about crafting experiences. (Surprisingly, this is something I grasped only after self-identifying as a narrative game designer for four years.)
I enjoyed creating games, implementing narrative techniques I learned from the industry into the game – you’ll know once you play. Compared to other products (at least from what I’ve briefly researched), this is a differentiating factor!
Branch: While I enjoy writing stories, I’m not entirely satisfied with the storyline of this game. I pondered over the plot for a long time, only feeling comfortable once I aligned the character design with the gameplay. For a non-character-identification RPG, aligning the story with the game is really challenging!
Writing Insights (Despite being ego-centric and not quite related to learning design, I still want to post this)
Originally, my writing logic was that character determines destiny; now, I’ve added another layer: family relationships determine character. (Specifically, for this game, it’s about the reconciliation of the two brothers, but I haven’t finished writing it yet, so it’s still a work in progress.)
