This podcast is designed to bring you that networking chat you kept meaning to schedule … right to your headphones.
Logan Currie and Maureen Isimbi want to help you level up your career game. Join us as we chat with cool people across industries about skills, community, careers, and – gasp – salaries! We’re both pursuing our masters at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education in the Learning Design, Innovation, and Technology (LDIT) program, and we know how hard it is to make the jump from student to professional. We are here to make that jump a little easier with snappy 15-20 minute episodes full of actionable insights.
Maureen and I had previously done a one-episode podcast together as a final project for our Equity and Opportunity class in August; we really enjoyed the experience of working together and spoke about doing a longer podcast project centered around EdTech and something industry-related.
I first ideated this podcast when talking with fellow HGSE students about the stress of the job search – we spoke about the fact that there are so many interesting jobs and careers out there in the learning space but it’s hard to get from A to B (from being a student to having a specific goal) without a lot of networking or job applications. We started lining up guests, and I took on the majority of responsibilities in terms of editing, designing collaterals, etc.
My initial PCE project was more directly related to my full time work at The ApplyAI. It was a similar professional journal product but I didn’t have the technical bandwidth to finish something of that scope. I know firsthand the possibilities within that technology space – specifically using LLM’s – and am excited to keep working in that field. Meanwhile, however, I found myself spending a good amount of time moving the podcast project forward, and decided to switch my PCE project to this instead of trying to focus on two separate projects.
I think the Your Next Move podcast fits perfectly in to my overall understanding of the learning design journey: I’ve been iterating on what it means to personalize learning specific to one’s own individual journey as a lifelong learner – and specifically how to center that within the context of professional identity & career development.
The podcast medium is one that I personally value a lot in terms of ease of access, possibilities of human connection and conversation. These are all facets of learning design that I prioritize, so the podcast and interview format made a lot of sense.
It has been incredibly rewarding already to connect with peers in the space, and I hope that the value to the audience continues to build. We plan on continuing the podcast with a 10 episode arc for Season 1 and we’re already arranging guests for Season 2 to start in the new semester.
